Brave New world:
"Our task in this project was to recreate a scene from the book Brave New World in a graphic novel form. Most students were paired into teams of authors and artists, though several worked alone and handled both aspects of the task. The authors wrote a paper analyzing one of the main characters in the novel and used noun-phrase opposites and concessive theses to make their arguments. Artists focused on key choices of moment, frame, image, word, and flow in creating a graphic novel about the chosen scene. Our exhibition featured both an art show of our graphic novels, and a seminar discussion about Brave New World."
Self assessment:
When I was creating my graphic novel there were many changes I was faced with. One of those challenges was picking the angles I was going to use. This was difficult because I had to use different angles to add more perspective and depth to the story. Most of my panels were profile and not only was that hard but boring, so I had to make them closer or from a different angle. For example on my fourth page last panel I didn't want the split panel from the same angle so I put one of them a birds eye view. Point of view was a difficult part in creating my graphic novel.
Although I feel very confident about all of my panels the one page three panel three. this is the one of the man looking through the camera. In my opinion this was one of the best perspectives because it was an original thought. I felt I used the eyebrows as a good representation on how he was reacting to the fight. Also the way you could see the whip in the lense of the camera to show what he was look at in context. Page three panel three I’m most proud of because of its uniqueness.
When I was creating my graphic novel I was faced with easy sections and challenges during my process. I have learned that you have to be confident about what angle you have chosen and your placement in the panel. I am confident in my graphic novel and how i am showing an important part in the book Brave New World. This was one of my favorite projects that we have done in humanities because of the fun and ala the skills we learned.
